Enriched Air Nitrox Diver

nitrox-tanks

The Enriched Air Nitrox Diver course is one of scuba diving’s most popular specialties, and it’s easy to see why. Scuba diving with Nitrox gives you more no-decompression dive time. This means more time beneath the surface, especially on repetitive scuba dives. While some people use Nitrox to also shorten their surface interval time, we believe you should still relax and enjoy some R&R for at least an hour between dives. Besides the extra bottom time, people express feeling less tired when diving Nitrox. Because you are reducing the nitrogen absorbed by your tissues, there are other advantages you will learn about in class. Don’t forget your dive computer. We will show you how to set and use it to enjoy the benefits of this voodoo gas.

What You LearnWhat's InvolvedGear You NeedUpcoming ClassesCost

During your Enriched Air Nitrox Diver course you will learn:

  • Why Nitrox is a great gas to dive from a safety and extended bottom time standpoint.
  • How to analyze your enriched air filled scuba cylinder and set your dive computer accordingly.
  • What concerns you have to be aware of when diving Nitrox (i.e. oxygen toxicity and depth limitations).
  • About the different Nitrox blending methods.
  • Equipment considerations when diving an enriched gas.

Step 1: Contact Us with any questions or for class availability

Step 2: Be sure you meet the prerequisite requirements

  • Be 15 years or older.
  • Hold an Open Water Diver level certification or equivalent.
  • Complete the necessary paperwork.

Step 3: Download and complete the required paperwork for the course

Step 4: Stop by the shop

  • Come on in with your completed paperwork, pick up your course materials (book and DVD), register and pay for the class as well as go over any other details or questions you may have.

Step 5: Classroom session

  • We hold one classroom session at the shop to go over the book work, you will take a short exam, learn how to analyze scuba cylinders and set your dive computer for Nitrox diving.

All you need for the class is your dive computer. If you do not own one, we will provide you one in class to practice setting the Nitrox blend.

Note: while we do not require it, we highly encourage you to own your own dive computer not only as a Nitrox diver, but as a diver in general. A dive computer provides you with vital information regarding safely completing your dives. It is important you understand how it works, what it is telling you and how to use/interpret that information. One of the scariest questions I get from divers is: Rami, what does this mean on my computer? As we always educate in our classes, be a responsible diver.
