Is it 9 out of 10 divers recommend or is it 7,714,576,922 out of 7,714,576,923 that recommend Raja Ampat as a top diving destination. Did I ask all these billions of people? No. I cannot speak most of their languages and many of them are too young to speak let alone dive. Yet, somehow, someway, they all agree on Raja.

I’ve never been to Raja and can't wax eloquently about my past experiences. Lucky for you and me, there are ways to learn what diving in Raja is really like.  In Scuba Sensations' 10+ years of leading group trips, all we have heard is:  "You must take your group to Raja Ampat, AKA, the Four Kings".

An added bonus is the owner of the boat, one of the pioneers of diving Raja Ampat, will be our captain. Who better to guide us through our experiences in Raja Ampat? As you read below, there is no disagreement among divers that Raja Ampat is  the dive destination that every diver needs to experience...and the sooner the better!

Raja Ampat is an archipelago in Indonesia consisting of over 1,500 islands. The four main islands are Misool, Salawati, Batanta and Waigeo.  Let's hear hear from the folks at the Pindito Live-a-board, the longest running operator in Raja:

“The Indonesian archipelago of Raja Ampat lies in the Coral Triangle. This expanse of 40,000 square kilometers of marine territory and pristine reefs make these waters a diving haven second to none. Reputed to be the most biodiverse marine habitat on Earth, Raja Ampat is home to many species not found anywhere else. Spectacular, is a word often used to describe this region and is irresistible to divers.

Imagine descending into the big blue, encountering a rainbow of colors in the vibrant, thriving reefs. Then the marine life comes alive, as if they know how special they are and want to share their secret. Schools of fusiliers and jacks duck and sway in the currents, bump head parrot fish chomp away on the corals, shy Denise’s pygmy seahorses hide among gorgonian coral, frogfish try to keep themselves expertly camouflaged and white/black tip reef sharks sweep and patrol effortlessly through the sea. Magestic mantas, rare wobbegong and epaulette sharks (walking shark) guarantee plenty of variety and with grey reef sharks, schools of big-eyed trevally and barracudas, they put on a spectacular show.”
